Baron De Ley Winery

Baron De Ley Winery
BARON DE LEY is a winery which was planned and founded in 1985 by a small group of high-status Rioja professionals which decided to create a project which was only one of its kind at that time in the Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja: a winery modelled on the Médoc chateaux, bringing mutually all the conditions that make a wine a work of art.

With this objective, the creators of BARON DE LEY acquired the Imas estate, within the boundaries of Mendavia and on the left bank of the River Ebro. It is an outstanding place for growing vines due to its climatic conditions and the characteristics of its soils, on which 90 hectares of vines were planted.

The winery was built using noble materials (wood from Oregon pine, handmade bricks, etc.) and designed for making Reservas and Grandes Reservas of the highest quality, integrated the latest technology. It forms a beautiful architectural complex with the old monastery, the two buildings representing the harmonious symbiosis between tradition and modernity which characterises Baron de Ley's wines.

The position of the bodega in the market has continued to grow in strength, with the merger of two of the top growing and winemaking experts, namely Fernando González and Gonzalo Rodríguez, who are developing a new generation of wines, the first example of which is the Finca Monasterio.
