The Bellevue Estate, founded in 1701 in Stellenbosch, South Africa is home to Tumara wines. Named after the estate’s beloved Arabian mare, the rich red wines created there are reflective of the exceptional terroir of the Bottelary Hills, a viticulture treasure within the Stellenbosch appellation.
The Bellevue Estate has been in the Morkel family since 1861. In 1953 P.K. Morkel pioneered the first commercial production of Pinotage – a varietal unique to South Africa. The estate is currently owned by the fourth generation of Morkel’s – Dirkie Morkel – who in addition to overseeing the estate is cellar master and chief viticulturist. He is an ardent conservationist and a valued leader in local preservation efforts.
The Bellevue Wine Estate is a supplier of exceptional quality grapes to selected clients in the South African wine industry.
Bellevue Wine Estate cultivates approximately 192 ha of vineyards, and yearly produces more than half a million liters of high quality wine.
With regards to bottled wines, they are to be renowned for the award winning pinotage, gorgeous Shiraz, conversation stopping malbec, elegant cape blend and classic though up to date bordeaux style blend.
