Brothers in Arms is very much a family concern. As the owners, Guy & Liz Adams are involved in all aspects of the business on a daily basis. The winery was built in time for production of the 2002 vintage as the business was becoming too big to use outside wineries, Having control of the wines from the soil to the bottle gives us great contentment.
In 1882 William Formby procured the Metala estate from the original settler, an unusual Prussian called Herman Daenke. The winery itself is a exceptional facility designed and built for the 2002 Vintage based on the philosophy that whatever we do, we do it well from the start. The preliminary stage of the winery can be prolonged at any time but we’re in no hurry. The focus is on excellence rather than amount.
This winery has computer-controlled fermentation and the whole thing place fermentation where possible is enormity transferred by a lifting tank - so there is minimal pumping after fermentation. The fermenters were also tailor made and there is capacity to ferment 200 tones at any one time. It's very competent which gives more time for value control.
