The Valley can testify that wine has been made since the sixth century BC. The Romans held wine from this region in very high regard. The area's true fame and reputation arose when Pope Clement V made it his place of residence and held court there, as did Pope Jean XXII and Urbain V hence the wine region's name sake "Chateauneuf du Pape".
Records show Château de la Gardine was founded around 1699. The current proprietors, the Brunel family have produced wine since 1670, so we can truly say “History is in the Making”.
