Chateau Phelan Segur is situated in the commune of Saint-Estephe in the Bordeaux region of France, neighbouring vineyards Chateau Calon-Segur and Chateau Montrose. In a 2003 Cru Bourgeoisclassification revision, it was listed as one of 9 Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnels.
A second wine is produced since 1986, under the label Frank Phelan. A more recent venture is a wine titled La Croix Bonis.
Intimately related to Chateau Phelan Segur, "La Croix Bonis" comes from selected plots, mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, located on the best land in Saint Estephe. The Gardinier family's desire is to make a great wine, reputed as one of the appellation area's best. This is why they have espoused controlled yields and sustainable crop practices in their vineyards. The harvest is picked entirely by hand, and carried in small trays. After strict sorting, only the very best grapes are kept. Winemaking takes place at Chateau Phelan Segur, using the best techniques.
