Coley King is the director of winemaking for the Canandaigua winery in Canandaigua, NY. His responsibilities include overseeing the wine production which totals over 22,000,000 gallons and helping to plan the East Coast grape crush, which totals over 26,000 tons of grapes.
Coley began working at the winery in 1980 as a second-shift wine cellar worker while he taught school during the day. He progressed through a variety of planning and winemaking responsibilities to attain his current position.
Coley is a native New Englander, having been born and raised in Massachusetts. He graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and lived in that area for another five years before moving to the Finger Lakes and Canandaigua. He, his wife, and two daughters live “out in the country” about 10 minutes from the winery.
