Killibinbin (an Australian Aboriginal word meaning to shine and be bright) commenced production in 1997, producing Langhorne Creek Shiraz. This wine sold out in six weeks, was critically acclaimed around the world and launched a new career in wine production for Killibinbin founders, premuim wine retailers and obsessed "wine nuts" Wayne Anderson and Liz Blanks. Ten years have passed and Killiblinbin has grown a bit, now producing "a nearly commerically viable" 4000 cases; however it is still a venture based more on passion for all things "vinous" rather than on good business sense. Wayne is now solely responsible for steering Killibinbin, directing it towards great vineyard sites in McLaren Vale and Paracombe in the Adelaide Hills, areas that compliment the original fruit source of Langhorne Creek's famous and historic Metala Vineyard. Keep it all separate though; we really want to highlight the diversity of these unique vineyard sites. Low yielding premuim vineyards and hands-on, small scale production are the keys to Killibinbin's success. Oh, and not taking it too seriously. Wine if for enjoyment for all!
