Luiano is a Fortress whose origins lie in the Renaissance Period. The property, just 10 miles south of Florence, extends across approximately 70 acres. The Luiano winery is one of the most prestigious estates of the Upper Chianti Classico Region and has belonged to the Palombo family for the past three generations. Antonio Palombo, born and raised in Luiano, has dedicated his life to perfecting the art of vine growing and winemaking. Drawing inspiration from his family, Antonio has created wines that reflect the charm of his daughter, Felicia, the intensity of his son, Alessandro, and the elegance of his wife, Monica. Luiano’s vineyards have recently been re-designed and re-planted by hand, carrying on the tradition of what Antonio had done in his youth with his father, Alberto. The cellars, built during the Renaissance, are a true testament to the ancient tradition of winemaking at Luiano. Those same cellars served as a refuge to such notables as Machiavelli and Michelangelo.
