When co-founders George Vare and Mike Moone first laid eyes on the Luna property in 1995, they instantly recognized the magic, and the amazing potential, of its estate vineyards. Plus, it was perfectly located along the Silverado Trail. So they bought the property and followed their dream, building a winery that paid tribute to the varietals that set Napa Valley apart. They also planted visionary varietals like Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese, which weren’t then well known in Napa Valley.
Today our story continues with the more recent additions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, extending our passion for making great wines, made truly great by our exceptional vineyard sites, our natural fermentation methods, and a minimum of intervention in the cellar. It’s all contributed to the critical acclaim we continue to receive for our artisanal family of wines. And to years of enjoyment—past, present, future.
